Introduction

The week-long training program will feature top level education, sightseeing, and unique cultural experiences only YAMANO can provide. Participants will learn the latest in traditional Japanese long hair techniques, shampooing, Japanese “head spa,” and new and innovative hair cutting and styling methods.

Japanese cultural activities will include a traditional Japanese tea ceremony, dressing, walking and sitting in an authentic Japanese kimono, a traditional Japanese flower arrangement seminar, as well as training in “Omotenashi,” the essence of Japanese hospitality.

The program will provide participants an opportunity to learn new skills and techniques that are unique to Japan and will certainly be a valuable addition to the excellent educational experience that your fine institution currently offers.

Itinerary

Day 1: Sunday, November 10th

Depart USA to Tokyo (Haneda or Narita International Airport)

Day 2: Monday, November 11th
Arrival in Tokyo

Upon arrival in Tokyo, a guide will escort you on the Express Train or Limousine Bus to the centrally located Washington Hotel, where you will stay for the week.*
In the evening there will be a welcome reception and Training Orientation at the hotel.
*Depending on the time of your arrival, a student guide will escort you on a brief afternoon tour of Tokyo.

Day 3: Tuesday, November 12th
A day at the Annual International Beauty Forum

A charter coach will take you to the Maihama Amphitheater, at the Tokyo Disney Resort (approximately 45 minutes) for the 69th Annual International Beauty Forum presented by the International Beauty Association. This day will feature various beauty contests and beauty shows. The contests include; Haircutting, Artistic Hair Styling – long hair, Beauty Makeup, Perm Wrapping, and several Kimono dressing contests. The IBF is Japan’s leading beauty event. All tour participants are invited to compete in the contest(s). The IBF grand finale featuring “Jane’s Collection Kimono Show 2020” will conclude the event at 4:00 PM. Tour participants will have the option to enter Tokyo Disney Sea until 10:00 PM.

Day 4: Wednesday, November 13th
Japanese Long Hair / UpDo & Hair Arrangement training

Participants will walk a short 10 minutes to the Yamano Beauty College for a full day of Japanese Long Hair / Updos & Hair Arrangement training. The artistic team that will teach this course is from the renowned National Beauty Association ARAI-KAI lead by Japan’s leading stylist, Mr. Tadao Arai (See Instructors section).

Day 5: Thursday, November 14th
Japanese Long Hair / UpDo Training

Participants will continue training in Japanese Long Hair / UpDo at Yamano Beauty College. You will learn recent styles with the distinguished stylist and educator Mr. Tadao Arai (See Instructors section).

Day 6: Friday, November 15th
Japanese Cultural Day

A charter coach will take you to the Yamano College of Aesthetics, located about 30 miles outside the city center, in western Tokyo. After the short tour of the school, you will be dressed in a traditional Japanese kimono, have your makeup done, and hair styled by students at the college. After you are all dressed and made up, you will take part in a traditional Urasanke Tea Ceremony in the Aijian Tea house located on the college campus. You will be given a demonstration and taught how to make your own green tea! After the ceremony, we will take commemorative photos of the day. After departing the college, the charter will take you to the world famous Ukaitei Japanese Restaurant, for a traditional Japanese dinner in the foothills of Mt. Takao, on Tokyo’s western edge.

Day 7: Saturday, November 16th
Japanese Shampoo & Head Spa Techniques / Japanese Hair “re-setter” techniques Training

Participants will walk a short 10 minutes to Yamano Beauty College for a full day of beauty education.
The training will feature leading hairstylist and educator, Mr. Mitsunobu Onoda (See Instructors section). In the morning, Mr. Onoda will teach you the “hair-reset” cutting technique. In the afternoon, Mr. Onodo and his educational team will offer training on the latest Japanese shampoo, and head massage techniques. It is said that the Japanese style of shampooing is the best in the world.
In the evening a farewell reception will be held in the exclusive Only One room on the 27th floor of the MY Yamano Tower.

Day 8: Sunday, November 17th

Tour of Tokyo
A charter coach will take you on a guided tour of Tokyo in the morning and in the afternoon, you will be free to explore the city on your own.

Day 9: Monday, November 18th

Tour Ends
Depart Tokyo to the USA. Arrive on same day.
